Inshore, Bottom and Fly Fishing in Punta Cana

We are bringing to your attention our new offer – BOTTOM FISHING in Punta Cana. Inshore Private Fishing charter – is an activity where you will not encounter giant size fish, you will not catch marlin or wahoo, the atmosphere and the drive is completely different. Inshore (Bottom) Fishing is an activity for special fishing fans. For those who like sitting with the rod without intense screeching of the 50 or 80 Penn reel as in Big Game Fishing. Those who like admiring morning glass like water surface and listening to the waves rolling over the reef. Those who are tired of everyday vacation rush and picking various excursions in the Dominican Republic. But the biggest advantage is that you will not feel sea sick! There are no high waves during Inshore fishing. Reef fish are colorful and amusing. There is a great variety! Must mention excellent taste qualities, especially cooked just off the hook and served with local side dishes. Something you can do with your catch right after the trip in a beach restaurant.

Inshore fishing trip is combined from 3 parts. First is rod and reel fishing close to the reef for live bait using a float and some bread. This means that we will be catching the bait ourselves for the actual bottom fishing. And trust us – this is very exciting! You will need all your skill so not to miss a right moment and hook up Ballyhoo fish. This is our future bait for bottom fishing by the reef. And Yes guys! This is the same famous Ballyhoo that we use as bait for Big Game Fishing. You can catch your own bait for future offshore marlin or mahi mahi fishing trip.

Next stage is trolling inshore along the reef line. There you will have a chance to catch predators like barracuda or snapper.

And finally, as a last part of our trip we will partly cross the reef, floating over it’s lesser part and stop for reef fishing. Fauna of the Atlantic ocean coastal zone is very diverse. Reefs are inhabited by variety of predators which get easily hooked up with the bait we brought aboard with the float. Those include different kids of groupers, snappers, sand lances, parrot fish, permits, soldierfish, moonfish, murenas, angel fish and other tropical predators which live at the Atlantic reef.

We go out bottom fishing on the 26 feet Grady White model catamaran with two outboard 200 power Yamaha motors. Grady-White Boats Inc. company came a winner of its class many times at the International boat shows. The catamaran is wide, stable and absolutely safe for inshore trip close to reef. The name of the vessel is “Fat Cat”. Just as cats love fish, our catamaran is always trying to find the most tasty fish. Up to four anglers or one and other obsevers can accommodate very comfortably on this boat. There’s a cabin and a WC, navigation system and fish-finder. We have a storage for the live bait. A marine ladder for snorkeling and diving. We also have snorkeling equipment. There’s an electrical anchor. For ballyhoo bait fishing we use light spinning tackle and bait (bait weight not exceeding 7gr. and inertia-less conventional reels with 1000 winding and ratio 5.3:1 and with length not more than 63 inches). For reef trolling and bottom fishing we use medium action spinning tackle (composite spinning rods of middle class from 12 to 25 gr. and winding 2000-4000 conventional reels, pole rod length 72 inches).

You are always welcome onboard with your equipment. You can use any tackle you bring with you. Wobblers, poppers, pilkers – we have them all. If you have a desire to bring your own – please bring your favorite. If you like fly fishing – you have experience and you have your own tackle – please, you are welcome to do it as well.

Inshore fishing trip cost is $350 US. for 4 hrs. and $450 for 6 hrs. Catamaran capacity is for up to four fishermen. From/to hotel comfortable van transfer is included in this price. You will be offered refreshments onboard – water, coke, beer, rum. During our 6 hrs. fishing trip we offer snacks. Transfer time is NOT included in fishing trip duration. This means we will fish for not less than 4 hours or 6 hours. This is a private charter trip and so there will be only you and your party (if any) and the Captain.

- Inshore fishing trip plan can be changed according to your desires. Offshore trip for this vessel is not possible. We have special fishing boats for offshore trips.
