We enjoyed our fishing trip on Fortuna. The Captain and First Mate were helpful. We brought in two mahi, so a slow day overall, but it happens. We took our kids, the youngest was 7 and everyone had a good time (despite some seasickness). I booked directly with them from their website and the transfer from the resorts was clean and comfortable.

We had an amazing experience with Big Marlin Charters in Punta Cana! The crew was professional, friendly, and made sure we had a great time. The boat was clean and well-equipped, and we even caught some impressive fish. Highly recommend this company for an unforgettable fishing trip!

This is a hard review for me because the Captain and Eddie, the deck hand, deserve 10 stars! So I will start there. Eddie was simply incredible. The seas were rough so several of our group were sea sick. Eddie brought them water, cold cloths for their heads, sprayed cool water on their legs and feet. He never stopped moving. And he was sooooo happy. It is incredibly obvious that Eddie loved his job. The Captain was also great! Fish were not biting great but we did catch 3 decent size Mahi.

Sadly, I would give the company zero stars. The boat needs maintenance. Depth finder didn't work, etc. We paid for an hour of snorkeling for 8 people. There were only 3 complete snorkel sets on the boat. The others were all broken or missing a snorkel completely.

When we arrived, the "manager" met us with a clipboard. I handed him the balance of cash along with our tip unintentionally. I told him it included the tip and he assured me the tip was shared and assured me he would get them their tip. I know better! But I didn't listen to my gut. Praise the Lord I said something to Eddie when we were driving back in and could tell by the look on his face that this man had stolen tips from him before. I walked straight up to this "manager" and demanded my $150 back. He handed me a wadded up $100. I demanded $50 more. He handed me two $20's. I demanded the final $10, but sweet Eddie pulled me away and said "no problem". We gave Eddie an additional $10 to make up for what the manager stole from him. Completely unacceptable! Eddie and El Capitan worked their butts off in the hot sun. This guy is walking around with a clipboard. All I can say is, Karma!

My wife and I chartered the Fotuna and had the best trip ever. Captain Yustas and First Mate Eddie were amazing. They worked non-stop to make sure we had the best chance to catch fish...and we did. We caught 6 Mahi and 3 Barracuda...all fought hard and provided us with alot of action. The entire operation they run is first class and the boat was amazing too....100% recommend them.

Amazing experience from pick up to drop off! The captain and our fisherman were amazing! We caught 2 huge mahi mahi and a tuna! It was an unforgettable experience!! They supplied us transport, food and drinks. We will be back !

We spent 6 hours on the boat and were delighted. The boat looked very neat, we were accompanied by the first mate Danil and captain Willy. Thank you, we will definitely come back!

This was a great experience from booking to drop off! Jose was a great captain and first mate Louis kept the lines in the water, helped with all aspects of fishing and keeping my 2 kids engaged and cool during the trip! Will book again when in Punta Cana!

Good trip! The captain did a great job in 5ft seas and our mate Eddie was awesome. 10 fish on the boat!

Yustas was able to get me booked on a full day trip. I have Capt Alfredo and First Mate Kelvin. These guys worked hard for me both doing the job they were hired to do. Alfredo keep the boat under control in the rough water, and Kelvin worked hard to keep fresh bait on the lines. I was fishing alone and in the end I boated (3) Barracuda and (1) 88" Blue Marlin. I will no doubt use Big Marlin Charters again when I am in Punta Cana. Thanks for a great experience team!

We were very fortunate to have a great Captain, Miguel and superb first mate Pedro Javier ( Havy)
My cowboy hat flew off when I went to play a fish and the captain was so nice to turn around and get it!
My wife and I caught 6 nice Mahi - Mahi, or Dorado as some people call them, and 3 smaller barracuda. As we always share with people we know, we took 6 Dorado fillets back to the resort for 6 different employees and we had one of the barracuda for supper.
These guys a great at fileting and are nice enough to keep the remnants of the fish for unfortunate locals that make fish from them.
The seas were a bit rough so Big Marlin put us on a larger boat without charging more. The boat was well stocked, great equipment and was kept very clean.
Miguel and Havy are definitely top shelf guides!
I would recommend these guides and the company to anyone!

Had a great trip with Yustas and Andy. We ended up getting lucky and hooked a double. Landed one blue marlin while the other popped the swivel. The bite was slow beyond that, but it’s winter and to be expected. Andy was great at entertaining and working the gear, Yustas was right there when the chaos of two fish started. Hope to fish with them again in the years to come.

We had the best day with First Mate Andy and Captain Rosario on the Sherlock!
From the start, their communication was excellent. They originally reached out a few days before our scheduled day to reschedule due to the seas being dangerous. I appreciate the attention to safety and we were rescheduled easily.
We were able to catch a barracuda, quite a few mahi mahi, and hooked but lost a white marlin!
Everything was taken care of from baiting, to cleaning the boat after each fish. The attention to detail was excellent. They also provide a cooler with water, beer, and Andy can make you a rum and Coke as well.
Would definitely recommend Andy and Rosario.

We had chartered Cana out of Punta Cana and while our suffered engine issues and had to cut short our charter by half, Big Marlin refunded us all of our deposit and fees without question. Very good and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend them and very reliable.

I do not usually post reviews, but our experience was so great. I have had some sea fishing experiences in the USA, but nothing compared to this one. Miguel and Miguel put us in the right spots and rigged up no less than 5 rigs at any given time. We hauled in nearly 30 mahi mahi and barracuda. So exciting…. if we had insisted we might have gotten more chances at a sailfish. They took care of us from start to finish.

We had bad weather and the captain canceled our trip the day before. Luckily he gave us an option to do a trip that afternoon. He was very forward that the seas were rough. We decided to do a 4 hr afternoon trip. The boat was big and cut through the waves seamlessly. The captain did everything he could to put us on fish. The first 45 minutes the 1st mate kept us entertained with music and historical facts about the country. All the sudden the captain spotted a group of Mahi and it was game on. In total we caught 2 Mahi, 2 barracuda and 2 Wahoo. It was a great day on the open sea.

					  Private charter  - We went our on a 6 hours private fishing tour. Booking was easy. Captain Richard and First Mate Andy were absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be booking with them in the future when we return.

					  Top notch captain best in puta cana  - Mugel captain of boat absolutely nothing better of a choice absolutely top notch new the sea that he runs his charter you will not be disappointed 2nd mate no better person for a captain to have thay treat you fantastic highly highly recommend to get you a catch  jeff from Minnesota  1 Marlin  triple Mahi Mahi change my luck in life there is no better boat to charter

					  What a great fishing trip!  - What a great fishing trip! First barracuda and a few good size mahi mahi! Absolutely amazing family experience . Awesome day on the water with Big Marlin Charters. No marlin but we had a great experience and definitely recommend mate Rosario and Captain Cocota!

					  Excellent Experience - We had an amazing time on the Blue Sky boat with Captain Miguel. He made sure he was doing whatever he could to keep us on the mahi mahi and always made sure we were having fun. Cold beer and service! Everything about Blue Sky boat and crew is top notch. From the first minute you book till the end of the trip while the fish are being cleaned it was all amazing. Well done Blue Sky! See you in Punta Cana next year!!

					  GREAT FISHING CHARTER ON CANA!! - Fishing trip on fishing boat CANA.  A friend and I took the 4-hour morning charter and had a great time.  I asked the resort to contact BIG MARLIN CHARTERS by phone the day before to confirm our trip which they did (even though I had confirmed with them through Tripadvisor already, just wanted to make sure). The private transportation by MAX (with BIG MARLIN CHARTERS) from our resort (Breathless) and back was on-time and provided in air-conditioned van.  I asked MAX if we could buy some Big Marlin Charters shirts when we were picked up and he called ahead and had them waiting at the marina ($35).  We were picked up at 7:30 AM from our resort and the first fishing line was in the water around 8:30 AM.  Captain KELBE and fishing deckhand ALFREDO did a great job and knew exactly what they were doing to give us the best chance to catch fish.  We caught a total of 6 fish (4 Mahi Mahi, 1 Barracuda, and 1 Remora).   KELBE and ALFREDO filleted and bagged the fish on ice for us to take back to our resort.  Boat and tackle were great!  Water was beautiful!   CANA is a good size boat for a fishing party of up to 4.  I would definitely book with BIG MARLIN CHARTERS again and this same boat (CANA).

					  Excelente! - Absolutely excellent full day fishing charter! Boat Cana well equipped and well maintained. There was 3 of us and we caught 7 mahi and two small cuda. Captain Miguel gave our family a fantastic fishing trip experience. He is one of the best local fishermen and captain. Will definitely be back the next time we're in the Dominican Republic. Thank you Big marlin!

					  Great day fishing in Punta Cana  - We had an amazing day with Big Marlin Charters in Punta Cana! We did the 6-hour deep sea fishing tour, and honestly, we could have stayed out even longer. The crew was super friendly and professional, and they made sure we were comfortable the entire time. The highlight of the trip was reeling in several mahi mahi and a couple of barracuda – such an adrenaline rush! The boat was clean and well-maintained, and the views out on the water were incredible. If you're looking for a great fishing experience in Punta Cana, I highly recommend Big Marlin Charters. We’re already talking about booking another trip next time!

					  Great fishing trip  - My wife and I had an awesome half day fishing charter with captain Miguel. We were on our last day of vacation and booked a fishing very spontaneously. The boat Sherlock was beautiful, gear was very nice and fishing was a blast. Miguel was awesome too. He was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. If we're ever in the Dominican republic again we'll definitely plan another fishing with him. Definitely recommend capt Miguel and boat Sherlock.
